Empowering learners in Oakland and beyond

Mission

Kickstart Coding’s tuition, curriculum and course structure are designed to empower underrepresented communities in tech and adults with low income. Regardless of previous barriers to education and employment, we want everyone to be able to pursue a meaningful career they love.

Our core goals is to increase representation of women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds in a range of roles. Regardless of scholarship status, most of our students have non-traditional educational backgrounds and are part of East Bay communities that are poorly represented in the tech industry.

We are devoted to addressing unequal access to vocational training resources through affordable and subsidized professional development initiatives. Our focus is on in-demand advanced digital workforce skills in growing industries.

Approach

Most coding schools assume students come in with a "base-line level" of mathematical intuition and tech industry connections to land jobs and succeed in the curriculum. We've found that this causes students from non-traditional educational backgrounds to end up getting left out. This is why we have developed our current program that emphasizes a personalized approach that meets students where they are at, so they can thrive and learn without the pressure of feeling out-of-place!

Our course structure adheres to a flexible, custom-pacing model to allow adult students who are also working full-time to succeed. Weekly one-on-one time with instructors is at the heart of our uniquely personal approach to teaching.

Our curriculum is designed and taught by experienced software engineers to ensure students acquire the necessary skills to pursue a career in web development. Our course material focuses on the most in-demand skills sought by companies hiring entry level web developers.

Partnerships

Do you work for an academic, non-profit, workforce development, or government institution? We'd love to chat with you about how we can provide easy-to-integrate, flexible solutions to high demand, highly skilled workforce development training. Our program combines flexibility and affordable pricing with extensive curriculum and robust, human-centered training structures, that enables all of our students to compete in the highly competitive San Francisco / Silicon Valley Tech job market, and beyond.

Our program has both in-person and online formats, which means we can reach learners in the East Bay, in California, and anywhere else via remote options. If this sounds at all interesting, we'd love to chat and tell you more! Reach out at the [email protected] address listed in the footer, and mention Scholarship or Partnerships in the subject line so we can begin the conversation and accelerate your skill training or workforce development program.
